DucKon 19 Special Events

This year we are planning several new and exciting events as well as the return of old favorites.

Opening Ceremonies (7p Friday)

Welcome to DucKon 19: Plan B! Join our Guests of Honor for tea, and find out what's in store for you for the weekend.

Vampire LARP (8p-12a Friday):

The local Camarilla chapter is hosting a one-off vampire LARP. If you've never tried live-action role playing, and always wanted to, this event is for you! Instructions available. Characters will be provided for this Vampire: The Requiem adventure, and the game can accommodate ~ 30 players.

Beader's Jam

One of our new events is the Beader's Jam on Friday night. It's BYOB (Bring Your Own Beads) and join your fellow beaders in the Art Show Room. Everyone from novices to experts are welcome. Come join us!

Chaos Costuming (1p-3p Saturday):

Bring your creativity and we'll provide the rest! We've got a big room, a bunch of materials (fabric, sewing machines, staplers, glue guns, aluminum, plastic.... *digs around* What is THIS?), and some people to help you put together a costume in under 2 hours. The results will be showcased (with owner permission) as the half-time show of the Masquerade on Saturday night.

World Bird Sanctuary

Bird Show

Join Laura MacLeod and some of the residents of the World Bird Sanctuary for a live flight demonstration. Thrill as they soar above your head and learn more about these magical creatures. Small rodents beware!
Visit the website of the World Bird Sanctuary

Masters of Lightning!

Tesla Coils! (Saturday evening):

The Masters of Lighting with Dr. Zeus are back making musical lightning with their giant Tesla coils. Come on out and see the giant lighting bolts crackle through the air and actually produce music from the sparks themselves. Dr. Zeus will perform unbelievable stunts that will amaze everyone as he directs the lighting from 2 Tesla coils at the same time.
Join our Mad Science Guests of Honor outside the Hotel in the parking lot - just look for the lightning! (Weather permitting)
Saturday 9pm in the west hotel parking lot
Visit the Masters of Lightning website.

Masquerade (8p-10p Saturday):

Come one, come all! Come and see the costumes! Come and show off your costumes! The "Plan A" costumes are on a plane to Timbuktu! Our judges are waiting to see what you come up with as "Plan B"! Masquerade Registration is open 1-10 Friday and 9-3:30 Saturday. Never been in a Masquerade before? Don't worry! There's a panel for that!

Liaden® Breakfast (Sunday Morning):

Enjoy breakfast with some of our GoH!

Critter Crunch (Sunday 10a-noon):

The battle begins! Which robot will be left running when the dust settles? Come and find out! Want to play? Don't have a robot? Don't worry, there are 25 robots "up for bid" for you to compete with, and bidding starts at just $2. Auction proceeds (beyond operating costs) go towards the Golden Duck Award fund. Competitions will be 4 robots head-to-head, double elimination, with a 10 robot free-for-all to determine the final winner. Prizes will be given (including a grand prize of an iPod Shuffle!)
