Security and Safety

That which is illegal outside of the convention is illegal inside the convention. If you have any questions about any of these policies, please feel free to contact Security (ask a Security Rover or go to Operations). Security is on duty 'round the clock during the entire convention.

Your Badge and Your Rights

The badge you were issued at Registration remains the property of DucKon through the entire convention. If you are asked to surrender your badge by an authorized representative of the convention, please do so. Also, please be aware that you do not have the right to share or lend your badge under any circumstances. If you need to transfer a membership, talk to the folks at Registration (or Operations after hours). There will be a charge to print a replacement badge if you lose yours.

Hall Costumes

DucKon encourages hall costumes but please remember, no costume is NOT a costume. You must comply with public health and decency laws, and please remember that DucKon is a family friendly convention.

Commen Sense Weapons Policy

  • No real or realistic-looking firearms. Those individuals who are required by law or employment to carry such items are requested to stop at Operations when they register.
  • No projectile weapons. This includes devices that throw/shoot/spray anything and objects that can be thrown themselves.
  • No unsheathed, edged weapons in public areas. If you are in mundane space, keep them sheathed, stowed, or otherwise hidden.
  • Lasers are limited to Class II or lower and are NEVER to be aimed at any living, breathing entity. This EXPRESSLY includes those annoying little laser pointers - if we see a red dot of light, we will assume there is a firearm at the other end of it and will react accordingly.
  • Use common sense. If something is a tool or a prop, you get to keep it. If something is being used as a weapon or threatened to be used as a weapon, said item and the badge of the person holding it will be forfeited to DucKon Security.
  • And, as always, if you kill it, you eat it.
