Winner of the 2008 Pegasus Award for Best Writer/Composer.
Our Filk Guest of Honor is Seanan McGuire, pronounced 'SHAWN-an' (or, if you're a fan of country music, 'Shawn Anne'). It's the archaic Scottish form of 'Janet', and officially weird enough to lead to a lot of entertaining misspellings. A native Californian and gleefully macabre blond in the classic Marilyn tradition -- Munster, not Monroe -- Seanan is widely viewed as a force of nature, since she never seems to sit still for more than five minutes at a time. She's a filker, poet, cartoonist, amateur virologist, marathon walker, and expert in the fine art of planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.
Seanan has released two CDs so far, with a third currently in production. Pretty Little Dead Girl and Stars Fall Home are currently available, while Red Roses and Dead Things will be released by DucKon. Note that two out of the three have the word 'Dead' in the title, which really says everything. Seanan's musical style defies placement into one neat catagory, even filk, but it's definitely an experience. Her first fantasy trilogy was sold to DAW Books in May of 2008. She's very excited. Ask her about the use of the giant squid as an editing tool.
Seanan would like you to know that you're probably wrong about what caused the Black Death.
You can find more information about her at her website: Seanan McGuire.
