Be a Gopher!

Operations (a/k/a Ops) beckons you to join us! DucKon needs Gophers (Volunteers) to help us run the convention. Areas that we usually need help with may (but not necessarily will) include: Art Show/Auction, Con Suite, Dealers Room, Young Fan, Technical Services (A/V setup/running/teardown), Klingons and Registration.

Benefits include the following:

For all Gophers: (at least one hour of work is required to receive these)

• Access to the Green Room (free food and drink; rub elbows with the GoHs and other guests and programming participants)
• Access to the "Gopher Hole" (shared sleeping rooms)

For Gophers who work at least 10 hours (work during some hours, on some days, counts double toward time worked - see below):

• Rollover of membership to DucKon 18 (or optionally, refund of DucKon 17 membership payment)
• Free personalization of a DucKon 17 T-shirt if you purchase one from Off World Designs (you can have your name, a fannish phrase, etc. airbrushed onto your shirt)

In addition, the Gopher who works the most hours (including double-credit) will receive the DucKon 17 Super Gopher Award, which includes one free hotel room-night at DucKon 18, and our eternal thanks. (This award will be announced on this Web site and at Opening Ceremonies at DucKon 18.)

• Any time before 1:00 PM Friday (June 13, 2006)
• Any time between 2:00 AM and 7:00 AM Saturday morning
• Any time between 2:00 AM and 7:00 AM Sunday morning
• Any time after 3:00 PM Sunday.

These hours are subject to minor changes; check this Web site for updates - any changes will be posted.

If you want to work before 1:00 PM Friday (which also includes any day before Friday), please contact us in advance of the convention; or, pre-register and check the box next to "Please send me information about volunteering for Gopher duty" (please include your email address on the registration form if you have one).
