ChildCare During DucKon

Original Artwork by Robert Alley

DucKon's ChildCare is open for children 6 months to 6 years of age. Our Young Fan Programming Team has lots of fun activities planned just for those in ChildCare. If your child would like to join the fun, they must be pre-registered for the convention (be sure to include their date of birth on the registration form). Below is some general information based on questions raised by parents of some of the children in ChildCare. Suggestions, comments, or questions etc. are always welcome and encouraged. Please e-mail childcare@ duckon.org.

What to bring to ChildCare

When bringing your child to ChildCare please be sure to bring any anything that your child may need while in ChildCare such as, diaper bags, bottles, or your child's favorite stuffed animal or other toy. If your child likes to read a certain book, please feel free to bring that too. Please note that we can not distribute medications to children in ChildCare. All medications must be administered by a parent or guardian. Additionally, you may feel free to bring food for your child, as a snack. However, we do not serve full meals in ChildCare. We do have juice boxes, fresh fruit and other snacks for the children to enjoy while they are in ChildCare.

What to expect when leaving your child in ChildCare

When you first check in to ChildCare, you will be asked for some general information such as your room number in the hotel if applicable, convention badge numbers for you and your child, and any allergies or medical conditions that your child may have. This information is kept strictly confidential and used to help us find you should that become necessary as well as helping us to better care for your child's needs in terms of snacks we give them and or preventative measures in the case of other allergies etc. You will also be photographed with your child so that in case we need to find you quickly, your name and photo can be sent to convention operations.

The capabilities of the ChildCare staff

Hello, my name is Jason Spitzer and I am the head of DucKon ChildCare. I am so glad that you are interested in ChildCare at DucKon. We have a great staff to work with your children, all of whom have had experience with young children ranging from infants to toddlers. Additionally, there are never more than four children for each one of us. This ensures that we can spend time with all the children in our care. We have had children of all ages in ChildCare. In the last few years, we have had infants as young as a year old and six year olds too. We offer ChildCare to children from six months to six years of age. I hope that you will enjoy making use of the DucKon ChildCare facilities.

How we spend time with the children

In ChildCare, we try not to watch too much television. However, we do: read books, play with toys such as blocks or Magna Doodles, play group games, such as Wonder Ball, and do arts and crafts projects such as Treasure Boxes. We also have a track of programming just for our youngest fen. We also bring programs right to ChildCare!

No child-care memberships will be available at the door.

Hours of Operation

The hours of operation and location for DucKon's ChildCare will be posted closer to the con. Check back later!
